THEY WERE AWESOME.
IF ONLY THERE WAS A WAY TO COMMEMORATE THEM IN THE SKY .
*SNA* I KNOW!
DELPHINUS THE DOLPHIN!
HIT THE DARKNESS ANY NIGHT THIS WEEK AT 1AM AND FACE WEST.
THERE, YOU’LL SEE THE FAMILIAR PATTERN OF THE SUMMER TRIANGLE.
VEGA, FAR TO THE RIGHT, ALTAIR IS DOWN NEARER THE HORIZON, AND DENEB NEAR THE TOP.
HALFWAY IN THE SKY, JUST ABOVE AND A BIT TO THE LEFT OF ALTAIR IS A SMALL DIAMOND SHAPED CONSTELLATION MADE UP OF FIVE STARS.
THAT IS DELPHINUS THE DOLPHIN!
DELPHINUS WAS PLACED AMONG THE STARS BY APOLLO IN TRIBUTE TO THE DOLPHIN RESCUING ARION, A FAMOUS SINGER AND MUSICIAN.
ONE OF HIS BRIGHTEST STARS: ROTANEV WAS NAMED BY ASTRONOMER NICOLAUS VENATOR AS A JOKE BUT IT STUCK!
IT’S NOT MULTICOLORED, BUT IT’S STILL GREAT.
KEEP LOOKIN’ UP!
