♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ I'm in a dancing mood, a gay romancing mood ♪ ♪ Whenever I'm with you ♪ ♪ The music seems brighter, my troubles are lighter, too ♪ ♪ When I'm with you ♪ ♪ I'm in a merry mood... ♪ (Märtha speaking Swedish, Olav speaking Norwegian) (blows raspberry) (laughs) Hello, cowboy.

(chuckles) (chuckling) Hello, cowgirl.

(flashbulb pops) REPORTER: Prince Olav!
What is your impression of America?
It's, uh, it's wonderful.
Everyone's been splendid.
It's a, it's a beautiful country.
Ah, Princess Märtha, what do you like best about America?
(chuckles): My husband.
(reporters chuckling) (band playing in background) MÄRTHA: MÄRTHA: It's so embarrassing.
FRANKLIN: It's wonderful.

(laughs) Oh, I wish my missus would say the same thing.
Well, keep on wishing.
(chuckles) Oh, this is a good one.
Cowboys, hm?
(all chuckling) It's no wonder you've become so popular.
America's new sweethearts!
Just like Eleanor and me.
(laughter) So, Your Highness, what are your thoughts on the chances of war breaking out in Europe?
Well, I'm, I'm not sure... Oh, here you are... OLAV: It seems Hitler does not want to wage war on the West, and... Well, as for Poland, it's a different matter.
Do you think an invasion is imminent?
FRANKLIN: Eleanor, please.
Give the man a break.
They're two are on holiday.
Excuse me, I must go see what's cooking in the kitchen.
Oh, I hope it's food.
(chuckling) ELEANOR: Besides, I have heard Franklin's jokes a couple of times before.

It is no longer a question of whether the declaration will manifest into full-on attacks, but more a question of who strikes first and where the battle will be fought.
(knock at door) After the invasion of Poland, German aggression has become increasingly... Why are you sitting here all alone and in the dark?
Aren't you coming to supper?
Hitler.
He certainly isn't invited.
It appears he wants to make a move northward.
Norway?
Mm... Or Denmark.
Or both.
But those countries are neutral.
Explain that to Hitler.
Can he really afford to establish another front?
He can't afford not to.
Whoever controls Norway controls the steel.
And the Germans need a helluva lot of it.
When could this happen?
(sighs): Anytime.
Soon.
♪ ♪ Those poor people.
(inhales deeply) I hope they're prepared.
(sighs) (kids laughing) Astrid!
(Vimsa barks) ♪ ♪ (camera shutter clicks) RAGNI (speaking Swedish): (thumping in distance) (thumping continues) (thumping) WORKERS (in Norwegian): OLAV (in Norwegian): (Harald calling) (Vimsa barking) GIRLS (in Norwegian): HARALD: OLAV and RAGNHILD: ASTRID: RAGNHILD and ASTRID: Oh!
WOMAN: ♪ ♪ WINSTON CHURCHILL (on radio): Everyone wonders what is happening about the war.
So far, it is the small neutral states that are bearing the brunt of German malice and cruelty.
And above all, the Norwegians have their ships destroyed whenever they can be caught upon the high seas.
CHURCHILL (on radio): Every one of them is wondering which will be the next victim.
(planes droning) MAN: (planes roaring low) CHURCHILL: All of them hope that the storm will pass before their turn comes to be devoured.
(woman crying) (exhaling deeply) CHURCHILL: But I fear the storm will not pass.
(plane engine roars) (explosion, water splashing) (gunfire, screams) (plane engines roaring, gunfire, panicking) CHURCHILL: It will spread to the south, it will spread to the north, it will rage and it will roar ever more loudly, ever more widely.
There is no chance of a speedy end except through united action.
(turns off radio) ♪ ♪ ASTRID AND RAGNHILD: (Haakon laughing) HAAKON (speaking Danish): (laughs) SERVANT and HAAKON: Mmm.
OLAV: (Märtha clears throat) (kids laugh) MÄRTHA and HAAKON: (all laugh) (Märtha gasps, Olav growls) ♪ Somewhere over the rainbow ♪ ♪ Skies are blue ♪ ♪ Then the dreams ♪ ♪ That you dare to dream ♪ ♪ Really do come true ♪ ♪ Somewhere over the rainbow ♪ OLAV and KIDS: ♪ Birds fly over the rainbow ♪ ♪ Why, then, oh, why can't I?

I mean, regarding a threat of a German invasion.
Olav fears it could happen, but our government seems to be more concerned about a British invasion.
Oh, believe me, Your Highness, no one hopes more than I that Norway is spared from this war.
Please, if there is anything you know...

Well... in times of war, steel is more precious than gold, so as long as most of Germany's iron has to pass through Norway, yes, there's a risk of invasion.
Please, Madam Ambassador, is it imminent?
